Applewood House System: Parent FAQ
What is the Applewood Gator House System? The House System brings our school together by dividing students and staff across eight vibrant houses. It builds character, encourages leadership, and fosters school spirit across all grade levels while keeping us all united as Applewood Gators!
How were the houses chosen? Every house represents an essential core value, motto, and its own secret house handshake:
Green: Courage
Red: Friendship
Purple: Creativity
Blue: Service
Yellow: Kindness
Pink: Positivity
Orange: Perseverance
Teal: Passion
Why is my child receiving a secret scroll at Open House? Inside your child's scroll is their official House Reveal Card! It unveils their assigned House, core value and motto. Please open it together to celebrate their House identity as a family.
What should my child wear on our House Kick-Off Day? If possible, we invite students to wear a shirt, socks, or an accessory matching their House colour on September 29th, 2026.
What if we don't have clothing in their House colour? No need to buy anything new! Wearing House colours is completely optional. Every student will receive an official House wristband at school on launch day, so every single Gator feels included and celebrated.
How can we participate at home?
Celebrate the exciting news together! Your enthusiasm will be contagious. Your energy at home helps spark their pride and excitement for the House days at school! We are thrilled to launch the Applewood House System and bring a huge wave of community and spirit to our school! When your child opens their scroll at Open House, make it a celebration. Ask them about their house value, help them hunt for their house colours and plan their outfit for the meeting. After our first meeting, they can teach you their secret handshake. This will be fun to do together!
